Where to find real government vacancies in South Africa

Official places to look for public-service jobs, internships and youth opportunities in South Africa, and how to use them.

Updated 8 October 2026

National public-service posts

The Department of Public Service and Administration publishes a regular Public Service Vacancy Circular listing posts across national and provincial departments. Each entry includes the department, post, reference number, closing date and where to apply.

Provincial and youth channels

Several provinces run their own vacancy portals, such as the Gauteng Job Centre and the Western Cape Government jobs page. Young people aged 15 to 34 can also use SA Youth and NYDA opportunity listings.

Free work-seeker registration

Employment Services of South Africa (ESSA), run by the Department of Employment and Labour, lets you register as a work seeker for free.

Stay with official sources

Links to all of these, labelled with the organisation that owns them, are on our free Government Jobs page. Requirements change, so always confirm the details on the official site.
