Matric certificate · Free South African guide
Lost your matric certificate? How to get it for job applications.
Most job adverts ask for your matric certificate. If yours is lost, damaged or never collected, you can apply for a replacement through the Department of Basic Education.

How
Apply through the Department of Basic Education (education.gov.za, including its eServices) or at a provincial education department office. You'll need your ID and the year you wrote matric. Fees and processing times are set by the department.
While you wait
Many employers accept a statement of results or proof that you've applied for a replacement. Ask the recruiter, and mention it in your cover letter.
Scam warning
Real employers and government departments never ask you to pay for a job, an interview, training or a 'registration fee' to be shortlisted. If someone asks for money or your banking PIN, walk away and report it.
